Styrofoam recycling bags

UW Recycling does not accept Styrofoam from off campus. If you are looking for local resources to dispose of Styrofoam, please consult King County Solid Waste Division's What do I do with…? tool and Seattle Public Utilities' Special Item Collections.

UW Recycling provides bags for Styrofoam recycling – a self-service program on campus. For large volumes, we offer two different types of clear bags:

  • One for Styrofoam blocks: 56"x60"
  • One for packing peanuts: 25"x11"x72"

Review the Styrofoam recycling guide to see what is accepted and how to use the bags.

Cost

This service is typically free. For self-sustaining units and/or large quantities, bags are available on a case-by-case basis, and the cost of the bags may be recharged.

The form can only accept requests for up to 10 bags. If your department requires a larger amount, please include details in the comments section. Larger orders may be subject to a fee.

Additional info

Bags are sent through campus mail and typically sent within two business days.
