The UWMC Outpatient Medical Center Outpatient Surgery Center Operating Room expansion project will increase capacity and enhance performance to meet growing demand, while minimizing disruption to current hospital operations, patients, staff and visitors and maintain the Outpatient Surgery Center and sterilization functionality during construction. The project will also create a welcoming and safe environment to patients, staff and visitors.
Project scope includes renovating approximately 13,831 square feet of an existing outpatient surgery center and an expansion of 9,645 square feet. Included in the scope are:
- adding four new operating rooms and remodeling four existing operating rooms
- expanding and remodeling the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) bays to support the new operating rooms and to make existing space code compliant
- expanding central processing and decontamination spaces
- updating support areas including storage, medical gases, generator, and mechanical systems
