Step 1: Check with records retention
Check the appropriate Records retention schedule to determine if your slides can be discarded. If they can be discarded, continue to step 2.
Step 2: Recycle the slides
Photographic slides may contain silver and are recycled via EH&S. To have these items recycled, submit a Chemical Waste Collection Request. Do not throw these items in the trash. Silver cannot be sent to the landfill because it is highly toxic to humans, animals and the environment.
