The Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations Standard outlines the requirements for all work that is to occur when connecting to, modifying, or removing any part of the University of Washington Seattle Campus utility infrastructure maintained and operated by Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations. It is essential that these standard specifications are implemented across all projects that interact with the UW’s utility system to maintain the overall reliability and resilience of these critical utility services and ensure the safety of all individuals that work on these systems.
The standard is intended to be used by consultants and design-builders to inform and develop specifications, design drawings, and ultimately execution of all projects.

Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations maintains a large network of utility metering and monitoring assets in order to manage the utility services to buildings on the UW Seattle campus. The reliable operation of this system is necessary to ensure accurate cost recovery from various units, meet City of Seattle Energy Code-required reporting and LEED accreditation requirements for building energy usage, and to continually commissioning, optimize, and ‘tune-up’ buildings. Consultants and Design-Builders are required to follow the design, product selection, and execution requirements outlined in this section for all equipment intended to be used for this level of metering and monitoring on the UW Seattle Campus.
