TEAM SPOTLIGHT
In June, the UW Recycling team enjoyed a tour of the University District Food Bank, which the team partners with for SCRAM (Student Cleanup, Recycle and Moveout). UW Recycling and UW Housing & Food Services organize the end-of-year SCRAM event to divert students’ unwanted items from ending up in the landfill. In 2024, the U District Food Bank collected 642 pounds of food from SCRAM.
The tour of the food bank, which sits on NE 50th St. and Roosevelt Way NE, included a visit to the 2,000-square-foot rooftop garden. The garden provides fresh produce, including herbs, veggies, fruits and even edible flowers, for the community.
