UW FACILITIES EMPLOYEE NEWSLETTER / SEPTEMBER 2022
Looking back at the Summer BBQ
Thank you to everyone who gathered on Rainer Vista and in Sylvan Grove for the Summer All-Hands Event last month! Please enjoy this selection of photos. If you have photos from this event or of Facilities staff in general, we'd love to include them in the slideshow for the next All-Hands. Email them to uwfphotos@uw.edu.
A new look for WorkDay
You may have noticed that Workday looks different. Here are some of the most significant changes, and you can learn more at the ISC's website:
The apps have moved! The icons that used to be on the homepage are now in the menu on the upper left of the screen. This short pdf guide shows you how to access the commonly used Time and Absence screens.
A Shortcuts tab in the menu allows you to quickly access your favorite and most used tasks and reports.
A Timely Suggestions section of the homepage provides time-sensitive alerts.
On profile pages, "Time Off" is now called "Absence".
Employee resources
New BIPOC Staff Development Program The UW's new BIPOC Staff Development Program launches in October! This free program, run by UW's Professional & Organizational Development (POD) division, is designed to foster community, advance professional development and increase engagement and retention of BIPOC staff at the University. Content includes self-paced online programming, in-person and Zoom events, competency-based workshops and specialized content.
Interested? You can register for the online launch event on October 19 or the self-paced online orientation that will follow. Sign up and learn more at the POD program page.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program If you’re a full-time UW employee with eligible student loan debt, you may be eligible to take advantage of a temporary waiver to help you meet the requirements of the federal PSLF program. Under this program, remaining student loans may be forgiven if you make 120 qualifying payments and work at least 10 years for a public employer. The temporary waiver may give you credit for past payments that didn't initially quality for PSLF, but it must be acted upon by October 31, 2022. Visit the UW PSLF website to learn more about how to take advantage of PSLF and the waiver.
Please note that the PSLF program and the October 31 waiver deadline are NOT related to President Biden's announcement last month about student debt relief. The PSLF is a separate program available only to those working at a public employer, such as the UW.
Get your flu shot at the UWF Training Center on Tuesday, Oct. 4, or at other locations and dates across campus. Pre-registration is required, so sign up today.
