Maintenance & repair

UW Facilities repairs and renovates University buildings. If it squeaks, breaks, smells or makes strange noises, we’ll fix it. If you are a campus visitor, or you’re not sure which form to use, please contact Customer Care directly at careteam@uw.edu or 206-685-1900.

Routine or emergency maintenance, including any issues with clocks, sprinklers, fire alarms, elevators or room temperature (HVAC).

Response times

Emergencies are unplanned maintenance events that pose a risk to safety, property or critical operations. We respond and stabilize within one business day.

High priority situations are unplanned maintenance events that pose a risk to business operations or environments and have the potential to escalate into an emergency event. We respond and stabilize within one business day, and correct within seven business days.

Routine corrective maintenance includes repairs, replacement or restoration. We respond within four to seven business days and correct within 25 business days.

Planned work is scheduled to be completed at a designated time and date.

Cost

Varies. Maintenance services are state funded unless provided to an auxiliary operation, self-sustaining unit, and/or if the unit recharges for its services. Customers must also pay for requested services that exceed the preventive maintenance cycle or are beyond the routine level funded by the state.
