Payroll	Update mailing address & emergency contacts: Just a reminder that all staff should review their mailing address in Workday and update it (if needed). This will ensure employee 2019 tax forms, benefits information and insurance cards are sent to the correct address. Additionally, staff should also ensure their Emergency Contact information is up to date. Please click here for more information about different address types and step-by-step guidance on any updates you need to make.
HR	State’s new Paid Family & Medical Leave program: Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, wage replacement benefits are available through the Employment Security Department (ESD) under Washington State’s Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) program. Web pages summarizing PFML benefits and how staff can file for PFML are available on the UWHR website. For more information about ESD’s program visit https://paidleave.wa.gov/.
Training	‘Computer Bar’ is up and running: Two new computer terminals at the Training Center are available for use in the main lobby. Where are you from? UW Facilities staff hail from all over the world. To celebrate our diversity, we invite you to place a star on the wooden map located on the north wall in the main hallway of the Training Center. Whether it’s your birthplace, your place of ancestry, or simply the place that feels most like home for you, show your pride and share it with your colleagues.

Are you a photo buff? Then why not enter the UW Employee Photo Contest! The UW Insider will be accepting photos by UW employees through Dec. 27. Judges will look for creativity, quality of the photo, and more. Interested? Get the full scoop here.

Holiday celebrations

The holidays are now upon us, and if you want to help create a festive feeling with your work colleagues and friends, we’ve got a few ideas for you:

White Elephant/Secret Santa: A fun way to anonymously spread some holiday cheer to your team. Be sure to set a limit (and stick to it!) on spending.
Office Decorating Contest: Have your teammates deck the halls, and give awards based on humor, creativity and effort.
Cookie Swap: Everyone loves cookies! Have participants bring their favorite cookies (homemade or store bought).
End of Year Celebrations: Organize a team party in the form of a potluck. Food is something we all need, we all enjoy and why not share with others?
