Kudos to our BSD staff who were recognized on Sept. 6 for their years of dedicated service and those with excellent attendance! Our 14 employees who participated in the Stepping Stones for Success Program were honored as well. The SSSP helps develop leaders and provides skills for advancement opportunities.

Do you have photos of yourself or Facilities colleagues hard at work? We want to showcase staff photos at the upcoming All-Hands meeting on Oct. 17. Please email your photos to UWFComms@uw.edu by Oct. 10.
Safety
Fall & winter warnings: With shorter and cooler days already here, slips, trips, and falls can increase, but there are ways you can help prevent accidents:
Use headlamps or flashlights to better see where you’re walking.
Wear shoes with good traction and use handrails.
Avoid walking in areas littered with wet leaves whenever possible.
In wet conditions, stay off dirt or grass areas when feasible. Wear shoes with slip resistant soles and report slippery building entryways to Customer Care. Be particularly careful on brick pathways.
In icy or snowy conditions, walk in areas that have been de-iced or cleared. If ice or snow is thick, use footwear traction devices specifically designed for these conditions. Take slow, short, and deliberate steps.
HR
Benefits: Open enrollment period is coming up in November. UWFHR and UWF Payroll will once again be available to assist you with changes/updates. Dates and location will be announced in the near future.
Your Voice, Your UW: The UW’s first ever university-wide climate survey aims to examine the full range of student, faculty and staff experiences — experiences that go to the heart of whether you feel a sense of belonging and inclusion, and whether you are able to thrive and succeed here. The survey runs from Oct. 8 to Nov. 8.
Recognition
The UW has been recognized as a national sustainability leader by the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, with our transportation program recognized as No. 2 in the country. We also received high marks in the Princeton Review’s Green Ratings. And the UW Tower is the first university building to gain Fitwel certification as a healthy building.
Have a sustainable project you’re particularly proud of? Consider presenting at next year’s Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference. Session proposals are open until October 11.
