Efforts in Sustainability

Fleet Services is a leader in the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles. Our 2017 fleet consists of 685 vehicles including 253 ethanol flex-fuel capable vehicles, 107 hybrid vehicles, 25 PHEVs and 25 all-electric vehicles - spearheading our efforts to further reduce our carbon footprint and increase our sustainability.

ASE Blue Seal of Excellence

The Fleet Services Maintenance Shop is the recipient of prestigious ASE Blue Seal of Excellence award. This award is only given to shops that meet this nationally recognized institutes high standards and expectations.

The Fleet Services Maintenance Shop has been the recipient of the Institute of Automotive Service Excellence Blue Seal of Excellence since 2005. This award recognizes the Maintenance Shop for it’s continuing efforts to pursue and maintain certification with this nationally recognized institute.

To qualify for this prestigious award, all Fleet Services Equipment Mechanics must be individually certified in at least three different ASE categories. Also, the overall shop is evaluated as a team to meet other criteria including individual certification of the Parts Program Specialist. We are proud of our automotive service technicians and their achievements.

Fleet Services Operations currently have a 5-star rating from the King County Envirostars program.

First presented to Fleet Services at the Vehicle Maintenance Management Conference (VMMC) on March 22, 2004. This is the highest rating available from the program and establishes our department as environmentally responsible and proactive. In order to receive the 5th star, Fleet had to develop a routine solid waste recycling program and demonstrate proactive environmental leadership.
